One of his favorite activities was walking in the local Christmas parade with our dog club. Most times he pulled his decorated cart which was loaded with candy for the kids along the route. In the picture on the right he was dressed as Santa and carried a backpack full of goodies.
Needless to say, there were many children waiting at the end of the route for him with equally eager parents waiting to take pictures. We were blessed to have JJ in our lives for almost 14 and a half years. He along with two half siblings were runners up to NCA's oldest living Newf several years running. His half sister Stormy will be entered again for 2010. |
JJ was our dog of "firsts". He was the firstborn out of our first litter. He was the first dog that I titled in obedience, water and draft. JJ and I learned a lot together along that journey. I know he taught me how to be a better trainer.
JJ had his sire's easygoing temperament. He was unflappable. He also was a ham. He loved to dress up in costume because it brought him pets and attention, especially from children who he adored. Above is JJ participating in an educational
program with other Northern IL Dog Club members. He also played "Seaman" for a friend's Kindergarten class for several years. |
