I've heard it said, "be careful what you name a dog." They will live up to it or down as the case may be. This could not be truer for Buddy. We couldn't have picked a better name for this boy. He was a friend in the truest sense. Kind, gentle, always eager to please. This boy had HEART. Even if he was unsure of trying something new, he did anyways and was always so proud of himself when he succeeded. It was written all over his face. I will never forget the water test where Buddy earned his WD. He was being handled by my good friend Melissa and I was handling his half brother JJ for his WRD. Buddy saw JJ practicing his life ring exercise and decided that he could do that too and let Melissa know he wanted to try. Without ever practicing it, he took it straight out to the correct victim in the water. The look on his face when he returned to shore with the "victim" was priceless! :-)
We were blessed to have Buddy in our lives for almost 14 years. He along with his litter sister Stormy and his 1/2 brother JJ inherited the longevity that came through both their sires and dam. All three were named runners up to NCA'S oldest living newf multiple years in a row. Buddy's other 1/2 sib Isaac lived to nearly 13.

Buddy inherited his father's laid back temperament and his mother's penchant for being a ham as evidenced by these pics and to my great delight. Oh yes, his 1/2 sib JJ also inherited the ham trait. :-)
