Ivy was one of several very special bitches that Steve and I were/are fortunate enough to share our lives with at Moonsail. She was our second home bred champion and the first that I as a novice handler finished completely owner handled. Ivy was what some would call an "old soul". When she looked at you she looked into your soul.  She was sensitive and intuitve and you just knew she understood everything.  Needless to say, it didn't take long for her to firmly entrench herself inside our hearts.

One of the most endearing things Ivy did was her silly parlor tricks. They delighted everyone she performed for. Her favorite was a routine  of shaking with one paw, then the next, into a high five, then point finger and say "bang", which prompted her to roll over and play dead. :-) She was a ham and it was hard to say who enjoyed her tricks more, her or those she performed for.

Sadly we lost Ivy much too soon to a sudden illness but a huge part of her still lives on in her grand daughter Gigi. Gigi is so much like Ivy in looks, temperament, mannerisms and obsessive love of water, that sometimes it just takes my breath away.  Ivy and Gigi's dam Tori were canine best buddies, traveling to dog shows together.  I've had a love affair with Tori since the first day I laid eyes on her as a puppy.  How special to have such a wonderful dog that possesses the best of both of my two favorite girls
